The Power of Yoga
I started yoga when I was 19 yrs old. Having trained with top yoga practitioners all over the world. Yoga created a more balanced strength and conditioning program for me with the added benefit of learning excellent practices for breathwork, rest & relaxation. After 3 major injuries I gradually had to learn how to ‘train better’. Yoga complimented my swimming and help aid my recovery each time. I became more conscious of looking after my body & training, not pushing it to its limits, reaching exhaustion. The benefits I have seen are second to none, I enjoy training, but yoga has taught me to listen to how I feel reducing stress, pressure, fatigue & minimising injury on my body. Yoga teaches you to listen to your parasympathetic side of the brain that helps your digestion & ability to rest and relax.
Philosophy
My philosophy with Tri-Swimming is to help people build better knowledge and understanding of open water and safety requirements that come with it. It teaches you to appreciate the natural environment and build mental and physical strength & resilience to not give up, vital when training outdoors. Open water gives you a sense of purpose and a renewed invigoration that stays with you throughout that day. It teaches you to listen to your body and feel what it is telling you becoming more in touch with ‘yourself’ on a deeper level.
The challenge swimming & training outdoors presents is undeniable it enhances your mental well-being, being in the natural environment & breathing fresh air. Cold water has ongoing documented evidence about the endorphin release and health benefits that come with it: increasing brown fat, strengthening the immune system, increasing metabolic rate, feeling energised, invigorated and calmer, to name a few. Granted not always enticing if the weather doesn’t look great but you will feel amazing at the end, and no-one can take that feeling away from you!
The Healthcare Professionals
As part of my business, I wanted to build a network of healthcare professionals in a wide variety of fields, that I work closely with; physio, chiropractor, sports psychology, sport and exercise & health & wellbeing medicine, nutrition, sports massage & homeopathy. Having worked with these experts for many years now and been treated by them, I trust their knowledge and expertise. Having a close relationship with them means I can provide you with a complete training package depending on your needs. You will have access to them to set up appointments rather than sourcing these yourself. We all have the same philosophy and outlook which is to keep our clients healthy, mentally and physically, for life, whatever their goals.
